Webster James Linton is a unique and charismatic vocalist who brings an old-fashioned crooner style to contemporary audiences. Specialising in Lovers Rock, Roots Reggae, and soulful ballads, he delivers heartfelt, soulful performances shaped by over 20 years of experience in reggae, gospel, and soulful music, including extensive work as a backing singer. Raised within a strong Pentecostal Christian tradition, Webster’s musical journey began in the church. He grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, where he attended the New Testament Church of God alongside his grandparents, developing his passion for singing from an early age. After relocating to the United Kingdom, he continued his involvement with the New Testament Church of God and remains an active member of the church community in Wood Green.

Webster James Linton Born March 28, 1995, and based in South London is an Award-Winning artist, often referred to as the Prince of Lovers Rock, and he is part of a new generation of British Reggae artists carrying forward the legacy of roots Reggae and Lovers Rock. A British-born artist of Jamaican heritage, his sound is deeply grounded in the traditions of Kingston, blending authentic reggae rhythms with a strong Gospel influence, a contemporary edge, and rich vocal dynamics. His tone is warm and inviting, and his vocal harmonies and dynamic range—from soulful chest voice to expressive falsetto—further elevate his artistry, blending authentic reggae with a strong soul and gospel influence.
Webster has built a reputation as a compelling live performer, known for his rich tone, heartfelt delivery, and commanding stage presence. His ability to connect with audiences across both intimate venues and large stages has seen him perform alongside a wide range of respected artists, including Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson, John Holt, Sanchez, JC Lodge, Peter Hunnigale, Barry Biggs, Don Campbell, Beenie Man, Tippa Irie, Kylie Minogue, Dionne Warwick, Luciano, Maxi Priest, and General Levy. His musical influences span a variety of genres. In soul music, his influences include Aretha Franklin, Betty Wright, Angie Stone, Stephanie Mills, and Angela Winbush. Among the male soul influences, he draws from Bobby Womack, Sam Cooke, Alexander O'Neal, Keni Burke, Barry White, and George Michael. In reggae, his influences include John Holt, Dennis Brown, Pat Kelly, Janet Kay, Sylvia Tella, Carroll Thompson, Alton Ellis, Barry Biggs, Don Campbell, and Peter Hunnigale.
His recordings reflect a clear commitment to reggae’s foundations. His cover of “Bring It On Home to Me,” originally by Sam Cooke, reached number 9 on both the USA Reggae Charts and the UK charts, introducing his sound to a wider audience. In the gospel field, his track “You Give Me Joy” reached number 2 on the Premier Gospel Awards chart, highlighting the spiritual influence within his music.
Webster has also shown his versatility with his trailblazing latest single—a cover of Prince Alla’s 1978 roots classic, “Funeral (Nah Go A Dem Burial).” This track is making waves, showing his prowess not just as a Lovers Rock artist, but as a roots reggae singer who captivates both audiences. Webster has also covered Sade’s classic 1984 hit, “Your Love is King,” reimagining it as “My Love is King,” adding yet another dimension to his artistry and his love for good music. Webster has worked with many top producers and labels in the UK and internationally, including Ruff Cutt UK / Jetstar, Lindel Lewis, Grammy-nominated Bubblers Ogilvie (former member of the Undivided Roots Band and a founding member of Ruff Cutt), Peckings Records, Mafia & Fluxy, and Phatta Records in Jamaica. He continues to actively record and release new singles while working on completing his forthcoming album.
In 2024, his single “Crazy for Your Loving” received a Global Music Cultural Impact Award, further establishing his presence within the contemporary reggae scene. He has also performed multiple times at Indigo at The O2 and toured extensively across the UK as both a lead and backing vocalist.
